PILATES

Based on the series of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early part of the 20th century, Pilates is a modality of fitness that focuses on strengthening the human mind and body connection.

 

Pilates utilizes functional movement in combination with adjustable resistance to increase muscle strength and flexibility. There is a focus on the use of one's "core" to help stabilize the spine and support other muscles throughout the body.  It can be done alone (Mat Work) or in combination with specialized machines (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, etc.) to optimize client's specific goals and needs.

 

Marcelin has over 10 years experience with Pilates. She is certified in Pilates Mat through Body Arts and Science Institute (BASI Pilates) and also certified in the Comprehensive programs through PhysicalMind Institute and Balanced Body, under the instruction of mentor Maria Leone.
